About Alison


Copywriter, editor and graphic designer since 1992, Alison Bruce has also been a comic book store manager, small press publisher and web designer. She was the Executive Director of Crime Writers of Canada from 2017 to 2023, and managed CWC's publications from 2010 to 2023. 

A past board member of Action Read Adult Literacy, Alison supports plain language. Clear communication is central to good design. Whether in words, images or layout, clear communication is one of Alison's primary goals for her clients and herself.

Author of the six plus novels, Alison Bruce writes history, mystery and paranormal suspense. Her books combine mystery, well-researched backgrounds, a touch of romance and lots of coffee. Her protagonists are marked by their strength of character, sense of humour and the ability to adapt (sooner or later) to new situations. Four of her novels (and one short story) have been finalists for genre awards.
